Trip Itinerary
Day 1 - arrival, Welcome & First Adventure
We will meet as a group at the airport on the Saturday before heading to the accomodation to settle in and sit down for lunch together. After a warm welcome and introductions we’ll head out to photograph our first location of the trip.
We will begin with a drive up to Fossa, the famous double tiered waterfall, utilising both aerial and tripod vantage points to make the most of this spectacular location.
Continuing on we will reach the town of Tjørnuvík, nestled amongst the towering mountains, it’s a perfect village to explore together.
During this route we will have plenty of opportunites to stop and capture the roaming sheep on the hillsides which makes for a beautiful storytelling piece.
Day 2 - Dunnesdrangar & Gasadalur
Dunnesdrangar is my all time favourite place in the globe just to stand and admire the beauty of the natural world. We will begin the day with a hike to this clifftop wonder where we will spend an hour or two photographing the seabirds flying amongst the columns of rock.
We’ll then take a short drive to the village of Boer where we’ll stop to shoot the grass roofed huts framing the massive Drangarnir in the backdrop. Continuing on we will hopefully pass the friendly highland cow family on our way to Gasadalur waterfall. Whenever I’ve been here they are always standing in the road waiting to be photographed!
At Gasadalur we’ll have the opportunity to capture some long exposures of the waterfall and fly the drone to really appreciate the beauty of such a remote village with the enormous Hvannadalur in the backdrop.
On our way back to base we will detour to photograph Trøllkonufingur, the Witches finger. A beautiful rocky outcrop that we can use our telephoto lenses to their best potential.
Day 3 - Kalsoy island, Viðareiði
The morning begins with a short drive to Klaksvik where we will take a picturesque ferry to the island of Kalsoy. Here we’ll spend the morning hiking out to the famous lighthouse on the cliffs, capturing a mix of stills and aerials from this awesome vantage point.
After lunch we’ll continue our drive further north, passing waterfalls and peaks to the Northern town of Viðareiði where we will photograph the beautiful church below the towering peaks.
In the afternoon we can then take a leisurely stroll up the hillsides above Klaksvik, taking in the afternoon light at this beautiful viewpoint above the mountain passes.
Day 4 - Puffin adventure & Kirkjubøur
Depending on the exact nesting location during the summer, we will take a guided trip to a colony of nesting puffins, aiming to get up close to capture these majestic sea birds in their natural habitat.
I’ll be hoping to spend as much time as possible with the birds so we can truly enjoy the experience and make the most of capturing our favourite moments with them.
In the afternoon we’ll explore the old village of Kirkjubøur with lovely grass roofed houses along the coastline, revelling in the history of the island.
Day 5 - Drangarnir & bosdalafossur
We will begin the day with a 2 hour round trip hike out to Bosdalafossur, this is an incredible vantage point from the cliffs over Lake Sørvágsvatn. We will have plenty to capture here, with cliffs towering above the ocean as well as a beautiful sea stack alongside the waterfall.
Following this, we will head to a local restaurant for lunch and some well deserved rest, before we head out again in the afternoon to see one of the highlights of the Faroe Islands up close. We will take a private boat to Drangarnir, the jagged island on the Western Peninsula. We will be able to capture this at various vantage points and take our time appreciating it at its best!
Day 6 - Eysturoy Peninsula & Hvíthamar
This region has some of my favourite spots to shoot, beginning with the incredible Funningur road leading to the iconic pyramid mountain. We’ll then continue our drive North to the towns of Gjogv and Eiði, with beautiful old Faroese architecture to capture.
On our way back in the afternoon we’ll hike the Hvithamar Trailhead, an easy walk up above the fjords where we will be rewarded with an incredible view surrounding us where we can enjoy an afternoon tea.
Day 7 - Nordradalur, torshavn
We will spend the morning at one of my favourite locations to capture aerials of the peaks of Nordradalur. You will have the opportunity to fly your drone or capture images with mine if preferred. If there is inclement weather on previous days we will make use of this time to also re-visit a location to capture it in the best light.
After a lunch at base we will have the afternoon free to explore the city of Torshavn, relaxing after a week of exploration. I’ll also be available if you want to sit down for more post processing and question time with myself. Our hard drives should be full of epic photos by now!
